About & Cultural History
The Kal Bhairab Temple (কাল ভৈরব মন্দির) in Medda, Brahmanbaria, is famous across Bangladesh for housing a colossal, 28-foot-tall clay idol of Lord Bhairava (a formidable manifestation of Lord Shiva). Originally established in the 19th century by sanyasi Rupagiri, the original idol was damaged in 1971 and painstakingly sculpted anew over four years by master artisan Chandra Paul.
Festival & Annual Puja Celebrations
The annual 10-day Kal Bhairab Mela during Phalguna attracts thousands of visitors from surrounding districts.
