About & Cultural History
Perched atop the Chandranath Hill in Sitakunda at an elevation of nearly 350 meters, Chandranath Temple (চন্দ্রনাথ মন্দির) is a revered Shaktipeeth and ancient pilgrimage destination in Chattogram. According to Hindu tradition, the right arm of Devi Sati fell here during Shiva’s Tandava dance. The steep trek up hundreds of stone stairs through lush green forest leads pilgrims to the hilltop mandir, which overlooks the Bay of Bengal.
Festival & Annual Puja Celebrations
The annual Shivaratri Mela at Chandranath Hill is one of the largest religious fairs in Southern Asia, attracting tens of thousands of sanyasis and pilgrims during Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi.
